Cover and Binding
Hard or soft cover?
If you select hardcover/hardback, you will need to have the book Case-bound:

Case bound books
Usually for Reference books, to imply high quality or withstand heavy use.
We take great care with hard cover books and our machinery is perfectly geared for this type of work.  After printing, the pages are sewn together.

If you select softcover, there are other options in terms of binding.

  • Section sewing
    • Sewing gives the book extra strength
  • Saddle stitching (wiring or stapling)
    • If you book has less than 100 pages, and allows the book to open flat.  Good for reports, smaller textbooks or reference books, non-fiction topics.
  • Adhesive binding (burst or perfect binding).
    • For paperbacks over 64 pages.
    • Burst binding usually lasts longer and we would recommend this method
    • Perfect binding binds each individual page together, it is effective, but sometimes after years of use, a single page can fall out.
